Convenient Truths at Treehugger
Riding high on the success of Al Gore’s efforts to get us better acquainted with global warming, Seventh Generation and Treehugger have partnered up to create an indie film fest of their own.  The Convenient Truths contest asks visitors to vote on short films which showcase practical, actionable solutions to environmental problems.  View the films and cast your votes at http://truths.treehugger.com.

Black Gold and the Fair Trade Debate
The documentary “Black Gold” is playing on PBS affiliate stations throughout the month of March.  It focuses on the tale of a coffee co-operative in
Ethiopia and makes a compelling case for supporting Fair Trade products.  Learn more about the movie and find screening times at http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/blackgold.

For a glimpse into both sides of the fair trade argument, read the Economist’s “Food Politics” article at (subscription required) and GristMill’s response to the Economist called “Poor Taste.”

The Electric Car: Not Quite Dead Yet
This is old news but I *finally* got around to watching the documentary “Who Killed The Electric Car?” a while ago and thought it raised some good questions about not just the automotive industry but our overall economy and politics as well.  Also, guess what?  The electric car seems to be on life support.  Chevy presented the Volt concept car in January, Tesla Motors is selling its second round of 100K electric Roadsters, and Electric Motorsport of
Oakland (represent!) will whip you up a plug-in two-wheeler.
