Goddess Series #2: Mary of Guadalupe

i realize many people (including my mother) would send me straight to confession for labeling Mary as a goddess. but let's talk about all those prayers to her for intercession, eh?. much has been written about the role Mary fulfills in Christian tradition, in which the female divine is otherwise unaccounted for.

no image makes this more clear than that of Our Lady of Guadalupe, in which Mary is literally on a pedastal, born aloft on a cloud by an angel. and standing on the moon? the stars on her robe? can the symbolism be any clearer?!

if you asked me, i'd say the divine is neither female nor male and yet both at the same time...and seeking to know the nature of God is one of the great things about being alive.
