The Greenest Schools in the Nation
There is a great article on the country's greenest schools on Green Guide. Schools were ranked on a variety of criteria, including design construction, recycling, curriculum, food quality, transportation and energy. Punahou School of Honolulu, Hawaii topped the list.
"Living on an island," says Dave White, seventh-grade science teacher at Punahou's Case Middle School, "we've got to feel the urgency now." Resources such as water, fuel, forests, landfill space and food, are all limited...(the) school mixes the commonplace with the unusual, offering students opportunities to test their limits, while ensuring a rigorous education in the fundamentals.
