Yoga Haters Anonymous

I like yoga, and you probably do too if you found my site, but once in a while it's fun to hear a contrary opinion...

"I hate yoga. I really, really do.

I could have told you this long ago, but because I try not to make unfounded accusations, I decided I would borrow a yoga DVD from the library and try it out. I was skeptical at first, but I dutifully popped in the disc and prepared to start my exercises. And, to my surprise, it wasn’t bad! No, it transcended the laws of suckery and was even worse than I had previously imagined!

Is there something I’m missing about yoga or is it really that stupid? Let me know what you think, but don’t tell Rodney what I said – he’ll probably come after me in his black Speedo, which I can safely say I never want to see again."

I've tried several times unsuccessfully to convince my mom to try a bit of yoga and her opinion is pretty much the same. While I like to think that with the right style of yoga or the right teacher, most people can find something they enjoy, I have to remember that it's just not for everyone.

I've tried a couple of Yoga DVD's and workouts. Some are absolutely boring. There are some that seem to have no physical or spiritual benefit. And there are others that make you ask, "What the bleep is all the yoga hype about?" . . . And then I found "Inhale." It's a yoga tv show that airs Monday throu Friday mornings on one of the cable networks. It's medium-paced and down-to-earth. So far, it's the best yoga workout I've found.

Haha, thank you for understanding. I am admittedly very ignorant on the subject of yoga, and I'm sure it works out quite well for some folks, but the fact of the matter is that I run a humor column, and making fun of yoga was amusing, at least to me. If you saw Rodney, perhaps you would want to tease him a little bit too. :)
Anyway, have a good Monday, it's certainly creeping up, now isn't it?
