Food Politics
Last night was the INFORUM panel on the Politics of Food. Such a broad topic - we heard about the concentration of our country's food supply, what the future of organic food looks like, genetically modified food, community programs that are trying to increase the supply of natural foods in inner-city neighborhoods and more.
It was a buffet of food topics; we sampled many different issues but didn't go into depth on any of them. I left the table wondering if the answers are out there or if we are going to just have to wait for the issues to evolve some more.
A couple of the speakers had new books out which sound interesting:
Eat Grub: Ideas for an Urban Organic Kitchen by Anna Lappe and Bryant Terry
Appetite for Profit: How the Food Industry Undermines our Health and How to Fight Back
by Michele Simon
